Sakshi Malik: India's Wrestling Sensation and Olympic Medalist

Sakshi Malik is an Indian wrestler who was born on September 3, 1992, in Rohtak, Haryana, India. She is known for her achievements in freestyle wrestling, particularly in the 58 kg weight category.

Malik began her wrestling career at the age of 12. In 2010, she won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in the 58kg category.

Sakshi Malik's first major international success came at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where she won a bronze medal in the 58 kg category.

She went on to win bronze medals at the Asian Wrestling Championships in 2015 and 2017, as well as a silver medal at the 2015 Senior Asian Wrestling Championships.

She was the first Indian female wrestler to win an Olympic medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She won the bronze medal at 58 kilograms, becoming the first Indian woman to do so.

She has also won medals at various other international tournaments, including the Asian Wrestling Championships and the Asian Games.

Her victory was particularly significant because she won it after coming back from a 0-5 deficit in the repechage round.

Sakshi Malik has been awarded the Arjuna Award, which is India's highest award for sporting excellence, as well as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, which is the highest sporting honor in India.

She has inspired many young girls in India to take up wrestling and has become a role model for women's sports in the country.
